Move Forward With Him

L. C. FOX-SMITH - 11/07/25 - I read Hebrews 12:1-2: “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

It’s so easy to add weights to our lives. These can be worldly habits or meaningless belongings that add temporary comforts but ultimately can’t fulfil us. If we aren’t careful they will distract us from the Lord and lead us down the wrong paths.

My recent trip to Cambodia has made me realise that I’ve slowly added weights to my life - habits and comforts that seemed normal but aren’t helping me run the race I'm called to. Now I feel the need to shed those weights and focus on what matters.

The last couple of days I’ve been focusing more on how I feel instead of placing my faith in the Lord. I should know better but I still drift. So many things have happened over the past two weeks that are clearly God’s work, yet I still catch myself looking inwards. I’m praying now for renewed focus, for guidance, and for the patience to walk His path, not my own.

This passage reminds me to be patient and trust that the Lord has everything under control. Life doesn’t have to be a sprint and it may be wiser to treat it like a marathon. If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we can move forward with Him, for Him, and because of Him.

Does your life feel like a sprint at the moment?
