L. C. FOX-SMITH - 29/07/26 - Today I was reflecting on an idea I heard in a podcast: we can become very good at seeking, but not very good at recognising when we have actually found something.
In Matthew 7:7 Jesus says, "Seek, and you will find." But what do we do when we finally find what we've been seeking?
In my own walk with Christ, there have been times when the Lord has shown me a door to walk through, yet I've still searched for another one. He's answered a question I've wrestled with, yet I've wanted to dig deeper, only leading myself to more questions instead of stopping to consider what His answer actually means. Perhaps there comes a time when we simply need to thank God for the answer He has given us, and then linger in it for a while.
There is, of course, a place for continued learning. We should never stop growing in our understanding of God. But that understanding can come from knowing Him through experience, not just from studying Him in an academic or philosophical sense.
Lately I've been trying to out more focus on living my faith than learning about it. Seeking is important. But so is recognising when God has been faithful enough to answer our prayers. When He does, our next step isn't to keep searching, but rather to begin walking the path He has placed before us.
